Words of Wisdom from Youmacon 2010

Saturday, October 30th, 2010

Today I met a dad who labeled himself as a “convention taxi driver” for his kids. He said something that struck me… “Just think, there’s african americans, hispanics, asians, caucasians all here – getting along together. The UN could all take a lesson from anime conventions.”

In honor of that observation after the break are some pictures of the various types of people at the convention.

Super Long Registration Line for Youmacon

See the line above? Now multiply that  by about 10x and you’ll get the full length of the registration line where I spent the first 3.5 hours at the convention. I think next year they might want more than just four people accepting registrations behind the desk.

However, after the wait the rest of the day went really well. Hit the jump to read more…

Preparing for Youmacon 2010

Friday, October 29th, 2010

In a few hours I’ll be heading into Detroit to attend my first Youmacon. I’ve stocked up on some of the essentials to keep me running.

Snacks for Youmacon - Pucca, Pokka, Green Tea, Rip Its, Pocky

I’ll be posting images a few times each day for those that want to see the insanity.

To cut costs I’m staying at a Red Roof Inn about 30 minutes outside of Detroit. I have to thank McDonalds for their free wifi. I got lost and without it I probably would still be driving around right now trying to find the hotel.

What a great hotel though. I’ll take some photos later and post them. It was insanely cheap as well after I used a coupon code I found online. Basically, what I’m paying for 3 nights is less than what I’d be paying for one night in downtown Detroit.

Ok, enough rambling, I have to get going!
